PRESTONSBURG - Junior pitcher Trey Stapleton recorded nine strikeouts and hurled a complete game to lead Prestonsburg past 58th District/Floyd County Conference foe Allen Central on Monday evening. The Blackcats defeated Allen Central 3-1 at StoneCrest Park.


Excelling on the mound, Stapleton threw 21 first-pitch strikes.


Stapleton helped his cause at the plate, connecting on a pair of hits.


Allen Central pitcher Junior Handshoe pitched well, but suffered the loss. Handshoe tossed six innings for the Rebels.


Hunter Brown also had two hits, including a double.


Brown and Tyler Shelton each had one RBI for the Blackcats.


Defensively, Prestonsburg committed one error en route to the win.


Prestonsburg never trailed. After a scoreless first inning, Prestonsburg plated two runs in the bottom half of the second.


Allen Central scored its only run in the top half of the fourth inning.


The Rebels struggled defensively, committing four errors.


Jacob Prater led the Allen Central offense with two hits. Prater and teammate Gage Parsons each had a double for Allen Central in the loss.


Each team had five hits.


Prestonsburg is scheduled to visit Allen Central on April 30.
