A Floyd county native is making high marks as an Art student at Morehead State University after recently being named Outstanding Undergraduate in Art and Design.

Emily Katelyn Baldridge, a senior art education major at MSU, was recently honored at the Caudill College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Academic Honors and Awards Convocation, held April 26 in MSU’s Frank C. Button Auditorium.

Emily serves as president of the MSU Art Education Club, is a member of the National Art Education Association, and is co-founder of two art pilot programs designed to bring art to the community: “Extra Art” with the Rowan County Arts Center, and “Discovery Art” with the Bluegrass Discovery Academy.

Her artwork has been exhibited in MSU’s Claypool-Young Art Gallery, the 2011 Mt. Sterling juried exhibit, and the university’s INSCAPE art and literary magazine in 2011 and 2012.

Emily is the daughter of Kathy Prater, of Paintsville, and Phillip Baldridge, of Prestonsburg. She is the granddaughter of Lillian Baldridge, of Prestonsburg, and the late Delmar Baldridge and the late Herbert and Ruth Prater.
