HAGER HILL - Arm Drop Drag officials were battling the weather on Friday morning. Drag racing veteran Kent Rose and others involved with the event worked hard and were successful in their efforts to keep the track dry and safe. Rain eventually moved out of the area and sunshine prevailed. Drivers from as far away as Missouri and South Carolina rolled into Combs Airport Friday. Grudge races greeted fans who ventured out to the Eastern Kentucky runway Friday evening.

In addition to the grudge races, numerous classic cars and hot rods visited Combs Airport for the cruise-in portion of the Arm Drop Drags.

Rain returned to the Eastern Kentucky overnight. Arm Drop Drag officials, however, hope to remain on schedule for Saturday’s portion of the event.

The cities of Prestonsburg and Paintsville have partnered together various resources for the local drag racing event.Gates for the Pop’s Chevrolet-sponsored Arm Drop Drags are scheduled to open at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. The all-important test and tune session is slated to follow at 10:30 with racing at Noon.
