GREENUP - Floyd County native Harold Tackett has moved closer to home. Tackett has been announced as the new head boys’ basketball coach at Greenup County High School. Tackett left Logan County High School following a four-year stint. This past season, Tackett took Logan County back to the 3rd Region Tournament for the first time in over 12 years. Tackett guided Logan County to a 14-11 record in the 2010-11 season. The experienced high school basketball coach left Logan County with a heavy heart.

“I would just like to thank Logan County for the opportunity they gave me,” Tackett said during an interview with the News Democrat Leader last week. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to be a part of the school system and to have coached four years there.”

Tackett expects Logan County to remain a competitive team.

“The foundation is laid and I highly expect the good things to keep rolling at Logan County,” Tackett added.

Tackett inherits a Greenup County team that ended the season 18-14. Greenup County is the defending 63rd District champion. The Musketeers finished tied for fourth in the final 16th Region standings. West Carter eliminated West Carter from the postseason in the opening round of the 16th Region Tournament.
