James Edward “Jim” Owsley, age 68 of Wayland, husband of Brenda Wiley Owsley, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, in Prestonsburg.

He was born June 19, 1944, the son of Mary Clarkin Owsley the late Walter Scott Owsley. He was a disabled coal miner and member of DAV Chapter 128 and the American Legion, in Louisville.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by two sons, Dwayne Scott (Gina) Owsley, of Versailles, and Derrick Ray (Lorri) Owsley, of Yakima, Wash.; three brothers, Keith (Debbie) Owsley, Darrell (Nadine) Owsley and Ricky Owsley; two sisters, Pamela (Roy) Spencer and Sharon (Tony) Decamillis; four unknown sisters; six grandchildren, Christopher, Ryan, Samantha Larun, Blake, Tia and Coleman; and one great grandchild, Christian.

Funeral services for James Edward “Jim” Owsley will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14, at the Martin Branch Freewill Baptist Church, at Estill, with Red Morris, Buddy Jones and Carl Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel.

Hall Funeral Home, of Martin, is in charge of arrangements.
