Amos Johnson, 79, of Prestonsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at his residence.

He was born May 14, 1933, at Bevinsville, the son of the late Sam and Tilda Hall Johnson. He was a disabled foundry worker for General Casting.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Johnson and Andy Johnson, and three sisters, Aggie Hill, Rosie Isaac and Laura Spears.

He is survived by a son, Rick Johnson, of Prestonsburg; two daughters, Sharon Gail Collins and Stacie Lynn Johnson, both of Prestonsburg; two brothers, Hiram Johnson and Jay Johnson, both of Bevinsville; two sisters, Ann Johnson, of Bevinsville, and Iona Henderson, of McDowell; nine grandchildren, Marie, Storme, Allyson, Samantha, Jayden, Aden, Megan, Alexis and Baileigh; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Jimmy Caudill officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Johnson Family Cemetery, at Honey Camp, Bevinsville.
