Cecilia Roberts, 92, beloved wife of 55 years to the late William Leslie Roberts, entered into Heaven on Sundau, Oct. 21, 2012.
Born in Colombia, South America, she was the daughter of the late Victor Hernan and Annunciacion Angel Duenas. She came to the U.S. on a music scholarship and upon graduation from the University of Miami (Fla.), she toured in Europe for a year as an opera singer.
Cecilia was a loving and devoted homemaker. In addition to singing in the church choir, she was very active in The Daughter’s of the King. She served through the Bluegrass Lioness Club and was a member of the University of Miami Alumni Association.
She is survived by three children, William H. (Carole) Roberts, of Cynthiana, Sandra C. (Bruce) Spradlin, of Greenville, S.C., and Cynthia S. (Jim) Pontrich, of LaGrange; grandchildren, Robert, Joe and Pam Turner, Meridyth Harrison, John and Mark Burchett, Roger and Blake Thomas, Adam Pontrich, Amy Roberts, Mara Kesterson, and Evan and Jacob Prather; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Asseneth, Olga and Marina.
She was preceded in death by her son, Miguel E. Roberts, and her daughter, Litsa D. (Mike) Prather.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, in Lexington. Burial will be in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, in Nicholasville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St., in Lexington, KY. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
