Nickell named KIAC women’s basketball player of the week

PIPPA PASSES - Alice Lloyd College junior Ariel Nickell was named the KIAC women’s basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, Nov. 5. Alice Lloyd finished the week 1-1 after defeating Martin Methodist 93-83 and falling to Union College 111-83.

Nickell averaged 28 points and 11.5 rebounds for the week. The junior forward had 38 points and 15 rebounds against Martin Methodist. She also had 18 points and 8 rebounds against Union College. Alice Lloyd is currently 1-1 overall. The Eagles were hosting Kentucky Christian University Tuesday night.

Somoye honored: Point Park University senior Babatunde Somoye was named the KIAC men’s basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, Nov. 5. Point Park won both games last week. They defeated Western Ontario 89-72 and the University of Toronto 94-85. Somoye averaged a double-double with 16 points and 12.5 rebounds. He made 54.2 percent of his field goal attempts (13-of-24). The senior center recorded 21 points, 19 rebounds, and 2 blocks against Western Ontario. Point Park is currently 2-0 overall. The Pioneers will return to action on November 14 when they travel to Lake Erie.
