EASTERN - The Allen Central High School boys’ basketball program will host its annual panorama on Wednesday at the J.E. Campbell Arena. Allen Central and five other area boys’ high school basketball teams will play in the panorama.

The panorama will open with the Allen Central Middle School and Allen Central High School freshman teams playing in a scrimmage game.

The high school portion of the panorama will include the following matchups: Allen Central vs. Phelps, 6:30 p.m.; South Floyd vs. Lawrence County, 7:45 p.m.; Prestonsburg vs. Morgan County, 9 p.m.

More on the three matchups set to be played as part of the panorama follows.

Allen Central vs. Phelps: Host Allen Central will face 15th Region rival Phelps in the opening game of its annual panorama.

Allen Central finished the 2011-12 season at .500, compiling a 15-15 record. The Rebels, however, lost six seniors to graduation.

Phelps finished last season 10-22 and returns only two players with experience from its 2011-12 squad.

South Floyd vs. Lawrence County: The second game of the Allen Central boys’ basketball panorama will feature a pair of new head coaches.

First-year head coach Justin Holbrook is set to guide the South Floyd Raiders after serving as an assistant coach under Barry Hall.

South Floyd exited the 2011-12 season 6-21.

Josh Cook is poised to start his first season as head coach of the Lawrence County boys’ basketball program.

Lawrence County ended last season 7-18.

Prestonsburg vs. Morgan County: Reigning 58th District Champion Prestonsburg will meet Morgan County in the nightcap of the tradition-rich Allen Central panorama.

Following an overtime loss to Belfry in the opening round of the 15th Region Tournament, Prestonsburg ended last season 16-16.

Morgan County is the lone non-15th Region team in the panorama. The Cougars finished last season 13-16. Morgan County hasn’t reached the 16th Region Tournament since 2005.
