PRESTONSBURG — The Floyd County Library was the scene of an event Saturday designed to promote reading in children ages 2 to 5.

The event — “Fall into a Good Book” — was sponsored by the Floyd County Community Early Childhood Council. Children who attended had the chance to hang out with the Cat in the Hat and Clifford the Big Red Dog, hear a pilgrim read “The Littlest Pilgrim” by the fireplace and eat a variety of healthy snacks.

Organizers raffled off two bags filled with educational goodies, and everyone who attended received storybooks and information about educational services provided in the community.

Organizers said they plan to have a math-themed event in the spring.
