Briscoe named MSC Player of the Week

PIKEVILLE – University of Pikeville’s Jamar Briscoe is the Mid-South Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

Briscoe averaged 32 points per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the field in a split last week for the No. 9 Bears.

The senior guard from Baltimore scored 34 points in a 90-87 overtime loss to Campbellsville University. Briscoe connected on nine of his 16 shots from the field, including 5-for-6 from beyond the three-point arc in the game. He also made 11-of-14 free throws.

In the Bears’ 95-91 overtime win at No. 11 Lindsey Wilson College, Briscoe scored 30 points while grabbing three rebounds and handing out five assists. He made 11-of-19 shots, including nailing two of his three three-pointers.

In addition to shooting better than 57 percent from the field, Briscoe torched the nets from deep making 7-of-9 three-pointers. He also made 81 percent (17-of-21) of his free throw shots.

Briscoe leads the Mid-South Conference scoring (25.7) and three-point shooting (58.5). He is also in the conference’s top-10 in field goal percentage (57.1), free throw percentage (81.0), three-pointers made per game (2.7) and steals per game (2.7).

Nationally, Briscoe is sixth in scoring and 15th in three-point field goal percentage.

With its latest week, Pikeville moved to 8-1 overall and 1-1 the MSC.
