Christmas shows come to the MAC
PRESTONSBURG — Billy Jean Osborne’s Kentucky Opry and The Nutcracker jump to life on stage this season, as two holiday traditions open at the Mountain Arts Center.
Beginning this week, the MAC presents Billy Jean Osborne’s Kentucky Opry Christmas.
MAC Director Keith Caudill says the show will have an all new set list this year, including traditional classics as well as newer Christmas themed songs. He added that due to numerous requests, Munroe would be performing “Santa Eent Down to Georgia.”
Caudill said that the Allen Baptist Church choir will be joining the production again this year. “They’re great, and just do a wonderful job.”
The Kentucky Opry Christmas performance begins tonight, with additional shows Dec. 1, 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
Ticket are on sale now and are priced $13 for adults, $12 for senior citizens ( 55+), $11 for students (18 and under), and $10 for groups of 10 or more. All prices include $1 per ticket fee.
Also, beginning Nov. 27, the MAC and Dance Etc. will present The Nutcracker.
The magical story of a life size nutcracker and the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies comes to life on stage as the timeless Christmas classic is performed by Dance Etc Students.
Additional shows will be held on November 28, 29, with shows starting at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
Dance Etc. has been serving dancers and their families in Eastern Kentucky since 1994. They pride themselves on professional dance instruction in a positive and fun learning environment. Dance Etc. offers classes in Mommy and Me, Pre-Ballet, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Lyrical, Technique, Hip Hop and Jazz for ages one and up.
Billie Jean Osborne’s Kentucky Opry troupe was formed in 1990 and consists of a cast of very talented individuals, all of whom call Eastern Kentucky home. From their opening act to the inspirational and patriotic finale, the Kentucky Opry performers leave audiences wanting more.
