Melvin Adams Jr., 55, of Grethel, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 2, 1957, in Rochester, N.Y., to the late Verdie Akers Adams Hall and Melvin Adams. He was the husband of Linda White Adams. Melvin was a father, a husband, and a general laborer who attended Tackett Fork Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John B. Adams, Robert Adams and Michael Adams.
He is survived by his sons, Dwayne (Becky) White, of Beaver, and Brian (Sarah) Adams, of Ligon; daughter, Miranda (Glenn) Gayheart, of Johnson County; sisters, Joyce Adams, of Rochester, N.Y., and Betty Slone, of Wheelwright; brothers, Norman Adams, of Gallipolis, Ohio, Carl Adams, of Rochester, N.Y., and Melvin Adams Jr., of McDowell; grandchildren, Jonathan, Victoria, Trenton, Keasha, Caleb, Brittany, Beth, Austin, Josh, Allie and Katie; and great grandchildren, Allie, Ethan, Jaylon, Ezra and Alyzabeth
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Tackett Fork Freewill Baptist Church, at Beaver. Burial will follow the service at Greenbury Hall Cemetery in Galveston.
