Blackcats edge Greenup County, 64-62

PRESTONSBURG - Freshman forward Dalton Frasure scored a game-high 23 points and senior guard Bryson Williams added 20 as host Prestonsburg edged Greenup County 64-62 Tuesday night at the Prestonsburg Fieldhouse.

Former Prestonsburg girls’ basketball head coach Harold Tackett fell short of claiming a victory in his return to Floyd County.

Prestonsburg moved to 2-0 after posting the win.

Greenup County remained winless, slipping to 0-3. The Musketeers have also dropped games to Russell and Pikeville.

Prestonsburg owned a lead over Greenup County at the end of each quarter. The Blackcats outscored Greenup County 16-10 in the opening quarter and carried a 32-25 lead over the Musketeers into halftime.

Prestonsburg clung to a one-point lead at the end of the third quarter. The Blackcats edged Greenup County 16-15 in the fourth quarter to capture the win.

Jarrin Hall added 10 points for the Blackcats. Jarredd Jarrell scored three points and Aaron Foley and Jon Stidham added two apiece for Prestonsburg in the hard-fought win.

Senior forward Jeremiah Berry led Greenup County with a team-high 22 points. Justin Bond, a senior guard, scored 16 points and freshman guard Austin Grooms added 10 for the Musketeers.
