RUSSELL - Hope Parsley and Arden Gross combined to score 24 points Monday night as host Russell rolled to a 69-27 victory over the Prestonsburg Lady Blackcats.

Parsley paced Russell with 14 points. Gross added 10 points for the Lady Devils.

The win over Prestonsburg pushed Russell’s overall record to 3-2. Following the loss, Prestonsburg dropped to 0-6 overall. The Lady Blackcats are 0-1 in the 58th District/Floyd County Conference.

Defensive-minded Russell forced Prestonsburg into committing 32 turnovers.

Russell claimed an early lead and never faltered. The Lady Devils outscored Prestonsburg 28-8 in the opening quarter and led 45-14 at halftime.

Russell remained in control in the second half, outscoring Russell 17-10 in the third quarter.

Seventh-grade guard Jana Jarvis paced Prestonsburg with 13 points. Jarvis was the only Prestonsburg scorer to reach double figures. Sixth-grade guard Reesce Endicott scored six points and eighth-grade forward Allison Hall connected on a free throw for the Lady Blackcats.

Prestonsburg will host 58th District/Floyd County Conference rival Allen Central (5-0 overall, 3-0 in 58th District/Floyd County Conference) Friday night.
