“Outrun, outclimb, outlast, outwit!”
These words inspired the spirit of competition at Allen Central High School, Saturday, Nov. 17. Under the direction of Col. Larry Maynard and Sgt. Jerry Hardy, the ACHS JROTC Rat Team welcomed over 300 JROTC cadets from 11 high schools to the second annual “Rebel Rendezvous.”
Cadets competed in several competitions that included rope- bridge, obstacle course, physical fitness, tug-of-war, litter obstacle course, orienteering, and rifle marksmanship in an attempt to gain ultimate bragging rights of taking home the top prize.
Trophies were given for the top three scores in every category, with the overall team points winner going to the Sheldon Clark High School Cardinal Wolf Pack.
The ACHS RAT team extend its appreciation to Dairy Queen of Martin, VFW Post 5839 of Prestonsburg, Trans Star Ambulance, Prestonsburg National Guard, Garrett Fire Department, Don Burke, Zeb Ousley, Jordan Ousley, and Logan Wright.
