PRESTONSBURG — An inmate at the Floyd County Detention Center could see significantly more time added to his sentence after allegedly assaulting a guard.
According to court records, Jeremy Ison, 39, of Pikeville, was charged last week with four counts of third-degree assault for allegedly attacking guard Parker DeRossett.
In the complaint, DeRossett alleges he opened Ison’s cell door Dec. 12 to give him his tray of food, when the prisoner ran forward and attempted to spit on him. The inmate was forcibly restrained and during the confrontation allegedly bit DeRossett’s left hand.
Ison was being held in the jail on a charge of driving under the influence, with a $200 cash bond. His bond has now been set to $50,000.
Third-degree assault is a class D felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison, and $10,000 in fines.
