LOUISVILLE - The Piarist School boys’ basketball team stayed busy during the Christmas break, competing in the Beth Haven Holiday Classic, Dec. 27 and 28. Piarist dropped games to host Beth Haven and Hart County during the holiday tournament.


Beth Haven 82, Piarist 34: Host Beth Haven built an early lead and eventually pulled away to defeat Piarist 82-34 on Thursday (Dec. 27) in the opening round of the Beth Haven Holiday Classic.


The Knights returned to competition after a long layoff. The Piarist boys’ basketball team hadn’t played in 17 days.


Piarist slipped back into the loss column after defeating Riverside Christian for its first win on Dec. 10.


John Gullett led Piarist with 25 points and five rebounds, both team-highs.


Tyler Stumbo was the only other Piarist player to score. Stumbo added nine points for the Knights.


Gullett and Stumbo each made two 3-pointers for the Piarist in the loss.


Hart County 94, Piarist 21: Hart County handled Piarist in the Beth Haven Holiday Classic on Friday (Dec. 28), defeating the Knights 94-21.


Piarist featured five different scorers, none of whom reached double figures.


John Gullett led Piarist with nine points. Ben Dennison and Tyler Stumbo tossed in four points apiece and Bryce Marshall added three for the Knights.


Skylar Williams scored on a free throw for the Piarist boys’ basketball team.


Gullett and Dennison paced Piarist on the glass, claiming seven rebounds each.
