VIRGIE — Police are searching a Pikeville man, following the weekend shooting of a man at a Pike County residence.
According to Kentucky State Police, dispatchers received a report at 5:38 a.m., Saturday, of a man who was bleeding from his abdomen. Trooper Jamie Rose joined Transtar Ambulance Service in responding to the home, where they found Kelley Bentley, of Virgie, with a gunshot wound in his abdomen.
According to information obtained at the scene, Bentley was involved in an argument with Mickey Donovan Holbrooks, when Holbrooks produced a gun and shot Bentley. Holbrooks then fled the scene before authorities arrived and has not been seen since.
Bentley was transported to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Holbrooks, 27, charging him with first-degree assault. The charge is a Class B felony, punishable by 10-to-20 years in prison.
