Lonnie F. Tackett, 73, of Melvin, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at his residence.

He was born May 25, 1939, in Melvin, to the late Duran and Emma Tackett. He was the husband of Blanche Deel Tackett and was a retired coal miner.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Tackett; a brother, Homer Tackett; and three sisters, Helen Tackett, Loraine Brown and Mabel McCown.

He is survived by a son, Rodney Gene (Donna) Tackett, of Weeksbury; a daughter, Rhonda Gayle (Ronnie) Tackett, of Somerset; two brothers, Herbert (Girley) Tackett, of New Boston, Mich., and Bobby (Gladys) Tackett, of Melvin; three sisters, Carol (Thomas) Taylor, of New Boston, Mich., and Loretta (Acy) Vance and Linda (Marc) Dennis, both of Huntington, Ind.; brother-in-law, Bob Tackett; grandchildren, Emily, Neil, Larry, Katrina, Tiffany, Amber, Cory and Steven; and great grandchildren, Skylynn, Katie, Alexis, Landon and Paxton.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 24, at Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church, at Melvin. Burial followed the service at Matthew Tackett Cemetery, at Melvin.

Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, of Martin, was in charge of arrangements.
