EASTERN - Senior guard Trevor Tiller tossed in a game-high 23 points to lead visiting Paintsville to a 79-55 win over Allen Central on Tuesday night at J.E. Campbell Arena.

Paintsville improved to 9-7 after posting the win. The Tigers, under the tutelage of veteran head coach Bill Mike Runyon, returned to the win column following back-to-back losses.

The loss dropped Allen Central to 5-14. The Rebels dropped their third straight game.

Each team featured eight different scorers.

Senior guard Matt Daniels scored 14 points and freshman forward Kash Daniel added 12 for Paintsville in the non-district win.

Matthew Miller and Quinton Hensley added seven points apiece for the Tigers.

Paintsville built a big lead early. After taking a 14-5 lead out of the opening quarter, Paintsville outscored the Rebels 26-15 in the second period to lead 40-20 at halftime.

Paintsville remained in control in the second half. The Tigers led 61-32 at the end of the third quarter.

Luke Trimble and Zach Collins chipped in six points apiece while Luke Daniels netted four in Paintsville’s winning effort.

Junior forward Tyler Keens paced Allen Central with 14 points. Sophomore guard Mason Nelson joined Keens in double figures, adding 10 points for the Rebels.

Junior Handshoe just missed double figures, netting nine points for Allen Central in the loss. Brett Sammons scored seven points and Devan Horn chipped in five for the Rebels.

Josh Wiley (four points), Dillon Lawson (four points) and Cameron Hamilton (two points) also scored for Allen Central in the loss.

Allen Central is scheduled to visit South Floyd on Friday night for a 58th District/Floyd County Conference boys’ basketball game. Tip-off for the Allen Central-South Floyd boys’ basketball game is set for 7:30 p.m.
