Visiting Asbury edges Eagles

PIPPA PASSES - CJ Penney scored a game-high 18 points to lead visiting Asbury past Alice Lloyd Thursday night. Asbury slipped past host Alice Lloyd, prevailing 62-60 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball game.

The win allowed Asbury to push its overall record to 16-10 and improve to 7-4 in the KIAC.

Alice Lloyd dropped to 9-17 overall and 2-11 in the KIAC after suffering the loss.

Alice Lloyd faced a seven-point deficit midway through the contest as Asbury led 14-7. The Eagles battled back and fought hard to try to pull even prior to the break. Asbury eventually took a 28-25 lead into halftime.

The two teams were knotted 56-56 with 2:58 remaining. After a 4-0 run from Asbury, Alice Lloyd pulled back within two points before falling short in the end.

Stuart Stamper led Alice Lloyd with 15 points. Terry Muse recorded a double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 13 rebounds for the Eagles.
