Marlene Newsome Hamilton, 64, of Huntington, Ind., widow of Denver B. Hamilton, died Feb. 20, 2013, at Huntington Memorial Hospital.


Born Jan. 2, 1949, at Ligon, to the late Bill and Draxie Caudill Newsome, she was a caregiver for Pathfinder Services.


She is survived by two sons, William (Betty) Hamilton, of Andrews, Ind., and Terry (Lori) Hamilton, of Johnson City, Tenn.; a daughter, Sherry (Floyd) Easterday, of Shelbyville, Ind.; a brother, David Newsome, of Huntington, Ind.; three sisters, Violet Newsome, of Banner, and Carl Sue Hamilton and Geraldine Shaw, both of Huntington, Ind.; five grandchildren; a great grandchild; and special friends, Mary Jo Williams, Michelle Duncan, Stephanie Pharogh and Lora Buzzard.


She was preceded in death by a brother, William “Buddy” Newsome; three sisters, Ethel Tackett, Charlene Rackey and Katherine Howell; and a special friend, Helen Baker.


Funeral services for Marlene Newsome Hamilton were held Sunday, Feb. 24, at Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church, at Teaberry, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial followed in the Newman Cemetery, at Hi Hat.


Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, of Martin, was in charge of arrangements.
