Eagles drop doubleheader to Virginia Intermont

PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd College baseball journeyed to Bristol, Va. to face homestanding Virginia Intermont College on Thursday. Virginia Intermont claimed a pair of wins over visiting Alice Lloyd. More on the doubleheader follows.


Virginia Intermont 7, Alice Lloyd 2: Host Virginia Intermont broke open a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning to win game one. The host team outhit its foe 9-4.


Josh Mills, Cody Hyden, Tanner Hensley, and Bobby Caldwell each had one hit for the Eagles. Mills provided Alice Lloyd with its lone RBI.


On the mound, Alice Lloyd pitcher Neil Dillon allowed two runs on four hits. The Alice Lloyd hurler struck out two batters.


Virginia Intermont 6, Alice Lloyd 2: For the second consecutive game, host VI broke open a close game in the middle innings to win.


The homestanding team outhit its guest 7-4.


Brandon Arnold had two of Alice Lloyd’s hits. Greg Wright and Wyatt Hamilton each added one hit apiece for the Eagles.


Hamilton and Shane Pack each drove in one run for the Alice Lloyd baseball team.


On the mound, freshman Aaron Boling suffered the loss. He allowed five hits. Boling registered three strikeouts in the short effort.
