Elder John B. Hamilton, 68, of Bevinsville, husband of Lorene Newsome Hamilton, died March 10, 2013, at Pikeville Medical Center.

Born Dec. 26, 1944, at Virgie, to the late Harrison and Liza Newsome Hamilton, he was a disabled painter, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Little Rosa of New Salem Association Church, at McDowell, and an elder in the Old Regular Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Fallis, of Pleasureville; a brother, Milburn Hamilton, of Florida; four grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John B. Hamilton Jr.; three brothers, Freeman Hamilton, Harrison Hamilton Jr. and Henry Hamilton; and three sisters, Victoria Blair, Mary Jane Newsome and Renie Newsome.

Funeral services for Elder John B. Hamilton will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 14, at the New Salem Association Building at Minnie, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsome Branch Cemetery (Penny Road), at Virgie.

Visitation will take place after 5 p.m., Tuesday, and all day Wednesday, at the New Salem Assocation Building.
