PRESTONSBURG — Students and staff from the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps, worked on Saturday, March 16, at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, during their annual “Operation Clean Sweep” cleanup.
Students and staff spent the day picking up trash around various sites at the lake, and out on boats along the shore line.
The Perkins group collected over 150 bags of trash and several dump trucks of debris from the shore line. Perkins students had worked the week before the clean up out on the lake shore picking up debris and in the campground area. Perkins staff and students will be going back, to the park and finish up the clean up, once the weather improves.
The students and staff were treated to a cookout after the event, door prizes and t-shirts. Perkins students and staff are committed to always giving back to the community and working to protect the environment.
