PRESTONSBURG — Highlands Health System participated in Operation Preparation at Adams Middle School, a program geared towards helping students choose a career path. Norm Marcum, Career Educator, developed the program designed to help students learn about a number of different career opportunities and also about fields that the students have expressed interest in.
Numerous community members were asked to speak about their chosen career paths and opportunities within their respective organizations. Initially, students listened to a quick presentation from each panel member, and then broke into small groups to ask questions and discuss specific industries.
Highlands representative Maxanna Cook, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, spoke to around 100 students about her experience in the workforce and as well as the health care field. “Many students think you can only work at the hospital if you are a doctor, but there are so many opportunities available in the health care industry.”
Students were able to speak with Highlands’ representatives and learn about health care.
