Giving thanks to teachers
Times Staff Report
The first week of May has been deemed Teacher Appreciation Week for almost 30 years and there’s no better time to thank our teachers than this week.
We appreciate the hard work our teachers put in every day in order to change the lives of our KIDS. We know our teachers are making gains towards our goal of becoming a Top 50 school district and we are thankful our teachers have prepared our KIDS for state assessment so they can show what they know.
To our teachers we thank you for building relationships with KIDS. Thank you for increasing rigor in classrooms, letting students know they can reach these expectations. Thank you for making education relevant to KIDS so they will understand that you are helping expand their life opportunities.
The board team and I also want to thank our teachers for other special things they do. Thank you for the shoes you tie, for the tears you wipe away and for your words of encouragement to our students. Thank you for looking for our students’ special talents and giving them ways to shine in the spotlight. Thank you for putting students first, for praising their accomplishments and providing stepping stones for them to reach even higher goals.
The board team and I ask that everyone join us in thanking our teachers this week for the tremendous jobs they do.
