West Virginia drops game to Greensboro

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The West Virginia Power fell to the Greensboro Grasshoppers 3-0 Monday evening at Appalachian Power Park. The Power only registered three hits as their seven-game winning streak came to an end.
Greensboro scored twice in the fourth inning. Jesus Solorzano drew a leadoff walk, stole second, and scored on a Matt Juengel single. Juengel later scored on an error by Power right fielder Josh Bell.
The Grasshoppers added their final run in the seventh inning. Max Moroff committed a two-out error on a ball hit by Anthony Gomez, scoring Yeison Hernandez for Greensboro’s last run.
The Power had their best opportunity to score in the eighth inning with the bases loaded and two-outs. However, Eric Wood struck out to end the inning.
West Virginia collected three hits in the loss. Bell hit a double in the fourth and a single in the eighth. Moroff also had a single in the eighth.
Clay Holmes (1-4) took the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits over five innings. The right-hander struck out four batters and walked two. Ramon Del Orbe (2-3) earned the win.
