PRESTONSBURG — Highlands Health System has announced that Maggie Banks has earned the designation of Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP). The CMRP is a national credential that distinguishes an individual as being among the elite in the healthcare materials and resource management profession.
Banks has been a Highlands team member for over 30 years, and is now the Director of Materials Management. While over seeing all the purchasing and delivering of materials throughout the entire Health System, Banks also manages price contracts and is the Lawson MMIS super-user.
When asked what she likes best about her position she replied, “I like being able to save the hospital money and seeing that effort go toward our patient care.”
When discussing her certification accomplishment, Banks said, “Since I started in Materials eight years ago, I have been working toward this certification. I want to make sure that I am qualified in whatever I do and as Director of Materials Management. I feel this is a very important certification, and I am very proud of this achievement.”
To earn the CMRP, an individual must satisfy eligibility requirements that incorporate a blend of professional experience and education, agree to adhere to the AHA Professional Standards of Conduct, and pass the CMRP Certification Examination. The examination assesses knowledge required of a competent healthcare materials and resource manager in the areas of Procurement/Product Value Analysis; Inventory Distribution Management; Information Systems and Data Management; Finance; and Strategic Planning, Leadership and Compliance.
