The Rebels avenged a loss they had suffered to Betsy Layne less than one week earlier. The Bobcats edged Allen Central 14-13 in nine innings on Thursday.

Senior pitcher Brandon Mulkey absorbed the loss for the Bobcats after pitching six innings and allowing nine runs (four earned) on 11 hits.

Brandon Jarrell, Nathan Hall and Kannon Newsome each had two hits for the Bobcats. Mulkey and Michael Henson notched one hit apiece for Betsy Layne in the loss.

Allen Central improved to 5-6 after posting the win. Betsy Layne dropped to 6-5 following the loss.

Allen Central (5-6) was hosting Perry County Central on Thursday evening. In another game that also ended too late to make this edition, Betsy Layne was facing Phelps.

SOFTBALL: The Allen Central Lady Rebels had won two of their last three games prior to facing Magoffin County in a home game Thursday evening. Allen Central edged South Floyd 2-1 last Friday and prevailed 5-1 over Sheldon Clark Monday, prevailing in a pair of home games. Prestonsburg edged the Lady Rebels 2-1 in eight innings Wednesday.
