Blackcat quarterback Adam Crisp completed nine-of-12 passes for 221 yards and four touchdowns. Crisp hooked up with five different receivers. Nathan Slone led the Blackcats in receiving as he grabbed three catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Slone’s longest reception during the non-district game covered 66 yards.
Prestonsburg rolled offensively throughout the game. The Blackcats rushed 29 times for 284 yards. Bryson Williams led Prestonsburg in rushing. One of Eastern Kentucky’s top young running backs, Williams rushed six times for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
Kain Collins was the second-leading rusher for the Blackcats, carrying the football nine times for 65 yards.
Tyler Keens and Alex Griffith each had one rushing touchdown for the Blackcats in the convincing win.
The Blackcats scored first and never trailed. Paintsville battled back to tie the game early on in the first quarter then never returned to the endzone. Prestonsburg eventually carried a 28-7 lead out of the first quarter. The Blackcats owned a comfortable 42-7 lead at the intermission.
Prestonsburg added to its lead in the second half, outscoring Paintsville 21-0 in the final two quarters. In the third quarter, the Blackcats picked right back up where they had left off prior to the break, scoring two more touchdowns.
Zack Kendrick led Prestonsburg on the defensive side, recording 10 tackles, 7 assists, 3.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for losses. Trevor Stovall (6 tackles, 5 assists, 2 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss), Griffith (6 tackles, 4 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss) and Keens (5 tackles, 4 assists, 1.5 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss) also ranked high on the defensive chart for the Prestonsburg football team.
Paintsville quarterback Dustin Caldwell had a hand in on most of the Tigers’ offense. Caldwell completed nine-of-29 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown.
Trent Burchett led Paintsville in receiving with four catches for 82 yards.
Prestonsburg will visit Jackson on Friday night for a non-district game versus Breathitt County. Kickoff for the Prestonsburg-Breathitt County game is set for 7:30 p.m. at Mike Holcomb Field.
