Clay Smith, 78, of Prestonsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Prestonsburg Health Care.

He was born May 8, 1934 to the late Eli and Della Poe Smith. He was the husband of Polly Webb Smith and worked as a self-employed carpenter.

He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Wayne Smith; four brothers, Lawrence Smith, James Smith, Wendell Smith and Lonnie Smith; three sisters, Thelma Clark, Opal Adkins and Betty Smith; and a granddaughter, Cierra Parsons.

He is survived by two sons, Clay Jr. (Sandy) Smith, of Augusta, and Clayton (Kristi) Smith, of Fort Gay, W.Va.; two daughters, Alicia (Ronnie) Parsons, of Martin, and Shelia (Rocky) Rowe, of Prestonsburg; two brothers, Elmer Smith and Jackie Smith, both of Finley, Ohio; a sister, Pearl Bibbee, of Finley, Ohio; and grandchildren, Brandy, Alexis, Laken, Anthony, Austin, Zachary, Nicholas, Dalton, Elijah S., William, Emma, Breanna and Elijah P.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Malcolm Slone officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Watkins Cemetery, at Blue River.
