Chris Akers, 45 years of age, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at his residence. Born Oct. 22, 1967, in Pikeville, he was the son of Dora Flanary Akers and the late Noah Akers. He was formerly a manager at Dollar General.

Chris Akers, 45 years of age, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at his residence.

Born Oct. 22, 1967, in Pikeville, he was the son of Dora Flanary Akers and the late Noah Akers. He was formerly a manager at Dollar General.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Destiny, of Prestonsburg; three sons, Christopher and C.J., both of Prestonsburg, and Noah Robert, of Garden City, Mich.; eight sisters, Erlene Morrison, of Houston, Texas, Sylvia Termini, of Woodstock, Ga., Elaine Gilpin, of Terre Haute, Ind., Nellie Little, of Prestonsburg, Jeanette Elkins, of Coldwater, Mich., Louise Anderson, of Ashcamp, Loretta Akers, of New River, Ariz., and Dawn Webb, of Coldwater, Mich.; three brothers, Crit Akers, of Butler, Ind., Curtis Akers, of LeRoy, Ill., and Bobby Akers, of Baltimore, Md.; and two grandchildren, Mary Lexus and Addison.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Carter Funeral Home, with Phillip Ramey and Paul Akers officiating. Burial was in the Osborne Cemetery, at Dorton.

The family entrusted arrangements to the Carter Funeral Home.
